Buying guide

Lights for running, cycling and walking at night

Two problems, two lights. You need to see the ground ahead, and drivers need to see you. A headlamp solves the first. A wearable beacon solves the second. The runners and cyclists who get both right are the ones who stop thinking about it.

Be seen: BlinkO

A 20 lumen red and yellow beacon with 270 degree visibility and 24 hours of runtime. Clip it to a jacket, a belt, a dog collar or a backpack. Two BlinkO units sync their flash pattern automatically.

See: TRIGO, LUMEO, MEGLE

Headlamps with the output and throw for roads and trails, from the compact TRIGO to the long-night MEGLE. All are USB-C rechargeable and rated for rain and sweat.

Good to know

  • Headlamps are lighter and steadier on the head than on a handlebar for trail use; for road cycling, add a BlinkO on the back.
  • Two-year warranty on the light. The battery packs on TRIGO, LUMEO and MEGLE carry their own term, listed on each product page.
  • Orders over $60 ship free from California.
