Headlamps for long nights on the trail
Technical trail at night asks three things of a headlamp: enough output to read the ground at speed, enough throw to see the next turn, and enough battery to get you home. LUMEO and MEGLE are the two Scoutlite headlamps built around those three numbers.

Before you buy
What headlamp do I need for trail running at night?
Look for 700 lumens or more, a beam that reaches at least 50 m, and a runtime of several hours on a mid setting. A secure band that does not bounce matters as much as the output. LUMEO and MEGLE are built for this.
How long will a high-output headlamp run?
It depends on the setting. The highest mode is meant for short bursts; a mid setting is what you run on for hours. Check the runtime table on each product page and plan around the mid setting.
Should I carry a backup light?
Yes, on any night outing longer than an hour. A SparkO clipped to a strap adds 40 g and 300 lumens of backup, and doubles as a camp light.
